Definition

It is a physical condition in which the fingers are long, thin and curved, resembling the legs of a spider.

General considerations

Long, slender fingers can be a normal feature that is not associated with any health problems. However, in some cases, the tendency to express spider fingers can indicate an underlying disease.

Common Causes

*Homocystinuria
* Marfan Syndrome
* Other rare genetic disorders

Note: having long, slender fingers can be normal.

You must call the doctor if

Some babies are born with arachnodactyly, although it can develop over time. The person must consult with the doctor during a routine examination if your child has long slender fingers and was concerned that there may be an underlying condition.

What you can expect at the doctor's

The doctor will perform a physical exam and ask questions about the patient's medical history, including:

* Standard time:
or When for the first time he noticed that his fingers had made this way?
* Family history:
o Is there a family history of early death?
o Is there a family history of inherited disorders known?
* Symptoms:
o What other symptoms are also present?
or Have you noticed any other unusual aspect?

Normally not necessary diagnostic tests, unless there is a suspicion of an inherited disorder.
