Discover two new antibodies against HIV
Discover two new antibodies against HIV
The prestigious journal Science has published a very interesting article, two American scientists discovered two antibodies appeared to be very effective against HIV.
The new vaccines will be developed based on these sensitive antibodies that attack parts of itself.
These powerful antibodies called "bNAbs" are capable of neutralizing the virus. This is critical since one of its main characteristics is its ability to achieve rapid and different mutations. Investigators have said that the research process (methodology) provide further details on the weaknesses of the virus.
The director of research and development of the IAVI, the Global Initiative for Aids Vaccine (nonprofit organization) Wayne Koff said that "This finding in itself represents a promising development toward the goal of developing an effective vaccine against AIDS, since we have potentially a better target on which to mobilize our efforts. " Also, "Now that we identify these two antibodies (baptized PG9 and PG16) we can find other, which should accelerate the global community's efforts to develop a vaccine against AIDS"
